Paul Mescal of Normal People recently talked about his ambitions for another exciting acting challenge in his career.
In a recent press meeting while promoting his new film, “All of Us Strangers,” The Oscar contender told Awards Watch that his dream acting role would be to play a romantic comedy opposite The Bear’s Ayo Edebiri.
“I think I saw Bottoms recently and I was in awe of how they do that,” he remarked, expressing his tremendous fear of taking on a humorous role.
“After watching that movie, I’m really envious of everyone’s skills in making the film and feel inspired by it.” However, I believe I’m going to challenge myself to maybe do a romantic comedy with Ayo Edebiri in the next five years or something similar.”
Edebiri is well-known for her humorous work in the 2023 adolescent satire and animated coming-of-age sitcom Big Mouth, which was recently added to Mescal’s watchlist.
Apart from the captivating performance in “Big Mouth,” She is renowned for her award-winning role as chef Sydney Adamu in the hit FX series.
Mescal has been working hard on several projects. He most recently costarred with Saoirse Ronan in the science fiction blockbuster Foe on Prime Video, and another exciting project is “Gladiator 2,” where he will lead the cast.
The actor recently expressed his feelings about playing the lead in the epic, stating, “It’s the biggest film I’ve ever done, so you can imagine how stressed I am about that one in particular. I’m delighted, but it’s hard to ignore the movie’s legacy for too long.”
